Call Fails When Dialing Out on iPhone 2G, iOS 3.x.x. Calls Are Received

A few days I received an iPhone 2G with a telephone problem. The phone itself worked fine, there was no signal or evidence of issues with it. I was able to receive calls to that phone, but I wasn't able to dial out. I tried replacing the SIM card, restoring the iOS, and thought it was a problem about proper unlocking. Well, check this out.

You won't believe how a simple solution can be for a complex problem. Any thoughts about the problem would ask you to Google about it, and it's really complicated to search throughout the web for a real solution.

Blogs usually provide you with a few answers, but not the best. After restoring the iPhone, unlocking, disabled EDGE, I figured out there was something I did not try, the solution was as following:

  1. Check your current time and date zone are correct for the region of the cellphone service
  2. Turn automatic Turn Off and On in the following order:
    1. From Settings > Phone > Show My Caller ID, Call Waiting, and Call Forwarding
    2.  Airplane Mode
It sounds so simple, but believe it or not that fixed something a full reinstall did not. If you find this is useful, share it with those who still use an iPhone 2G.
